The Story Behind the Work

I am an artist based in Dayton, Ohio. Growing up in a military family, I moved frequently across the United States, an experience that shaped the way I see the world and connect with others. I am the second oldest of four children, and from an early age, I found myself drawn to creativity, often exploring different forms of art.

My passion for the arts truly took root in high school, where I discovered ceramics and became involved in theatre. In those spaces, my creativity was nurtured, and I began to understand art not just as a hobby but as a calling. After graduating, I attended Cedarville University, where I earned a B.A. in Studio Art, along with minors in Psychology and Biblical Studies.

Today, I work primarily as a ceramic artist, creating functional pieces such as vases, bowls, and mugs designed for everyday use. I am especially drawn to bright, playful, illustrative surfaces inspired by the natural world — fish, flowers, and other living forms that reflect movement, life, and God’s provision. Through these functional objects, I create work that is not only seen but also used, handled, and woven into daily life.

Alongside my functional work, I create sculptural pieces that explore the emotional landscape of being alive, particularly grief and healing. Continuing to draw from natural imagery, this work shifts toward storytelling through form and surface, using my material as a way to hold memory and experience. Grounded in ideas of family, legacy, and the impact people have on one another, my body of work reflects the way emotion and lived experience are carried with us over time.
